My name is Bernadette Akeema Young and I am from Brooklyn, New York.
M: When you hear the term ‘love language’, what first comes to your mind?
B: Your body.
M: So pre-covid, when you met someone, and you were interested in them, how do you approach them or did you approach them?
B: Well, uh pre-covid, the way I would approach people is, for me,, I’m a polite person, so it's like I wanna get to know you first before anything. Normally what I would say is ‘hey you know maybe we can go out and have, you know, a lil date’ or something like that. And I tell them that, I'm not the type of girl that likes to rush into things; I like to take my time, I like to really get to know a person before like I can ever do anything. I was with somebody pre-covid, and I was with them until June of this year and… I’m not, I’m not a bad girl for saying this, but I realized that the whole time we’ve been together, I never really had a seat at her table meaning that I wasn’t getting the same amount of respect or love or appreciation as they would want from their family. So, it upset me because when I care about somebody and I like them and I'm dating them or we’re in a relationship, I’m, and I’m not gonna swear but - I like a Bonnie and Clyde relationship, because…
M: Criminals?
B: Criminally in love! Like they did everything together, like they robbed banks together, like they just… that's the type of girl I am.
M: Like, ride or die.
B: Yeah, like I'm a Bonnie and I want me a Clyde or another Bonnie or whatever, but i’m not saying oh I want you to like ride or die for me, but I want you to understand how loyal I am to you.
